SOCIAL JUSTICE RESEARCH INTERN
Reports to: TMUPIRG Lead
Time Commitment: 5-10 hours per month for at least one semester or as otherwise discussed.
Qualifications: Must be prepared to work independently, good oral and written communication skills, time management, and willingness to work as part of a team
Honorarium: $500 per research project
Description:
TMU Public Interest Research Group is looking for students who care about solving the problems that we face across Turtle Island. As an intern with TMUPIRG, you’ll help educate and engage people on the important issues facing every day people in our communities. Whether it’s by getting our issues into the media, writing or creating reports on various issues, helping to grow coalitions or organizing events, you’ll be helping us build the public support it takes to win.
If you agree that our society has more problems than we should tolerate, but also understand that there are plenty of solutions to these problems that we should be putting to use, then you should apply for an internship!
We’re looking for students who care deeply about solving these issues and are ready to make a difference now.
ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP
RESPONSIBILITIES
● You’ll learn how to analyze problems ranging from public health, to consumer protection, to transportation — all while pushing for smart solutions and building the public support it takes to win.
● Engaging in social justice themed research independently or as part of a pair or group
● Working with the TMUPIRG Lead to design a research plan
● Adhering to the research plan including deadlines, check-ins, and meetings
● Developing a final report in whichever format is most appropriate (written, visual, videographic, etc.)
